I am not a big fan of TV programs, except for series and stuff. So it wasn’t a wonder when I didn’t watch Eurovision. In fact, I don’t even think I listened to Turkey’s song, “Dumtek”, from start to end. Today, the singer who sang it, Hadise, was returning to Turkey, so they showed some clips of the show, including the piece by Norway who won the first place. I love folksy tunes, exaggerated dances, and ı definitely love blond and hot guys, especially when they can play an instrument. I googled a bit around and found the video, and it’s so amazing. I like everything about, the music, the dance, the lyrics, the guy…
So, the singer’s name is Alexander Rybak, and he was born in 1986 (same as me). And the song is called “Fairytale”, and it was written and composed by Alexander himself. The song won 747,888 votes, whereas the runner up, Iceland, won 121,856. And the dance bit was performed by a group called Frikar.
Here are the lyrics:
Years ago, when I was younger
I kinda liked a girl I knew
She was mine and we were sweethearts
That was then but then it’s true
I’m in love with a fairytale, even though it hurts
‘Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind
I’m already cursed
Every day we start a fighting
Every night we fell in love
No one else could make me sadder
But no one else could lift me high above
I don’t know, what I was doing
When suddenly, we fell apart
Nowadays, I cannot find her
But when I do, we’ll get a brand new start
I’m in love with a fairytale, even though it hurts
‘Cause I don’t care, if I lose my mind
I’m already cursed
She’s a fairytale yeah even though it hurts
‘Cause I don’t care, if I lose my mind
I’m already cursed
I know this is actually unpatriotic of me, but I just couldn’t help myself. You know when a genius is in making. His album is out on June 9th. Yey!
